Our journey into small business began when I was a child, I’ve always been creative. I started making friendship bracelets in school and we sold them to all our friends and class mates. After high school I went to school for culinary arts, and then joined the work force. I’ve spent years bouncing from job to job not really finding the right fit. I turned to my crafting skills and started making friendship bracelets again seven years ago to make a little extra for Christmas. I enjoyed the act of creating something with my hands and it was relaxing for me.
The following year I started working with wire and making jewelry from mother of pearl and glass. For two years I worked on the basics, I made simple jewelry. Then I saw a tree of life and thought I can do that, slowly over then course of next four years my skills have grown. I still enjoy creating my jewelry and I love sharing it with my customers and friends.
In February of 2017 I was laid off from my job and I knew I had to do something. At this point my husband, Kevin, and I had built a forge in our backyard and were practicing and learning blacksmithing skills.
While it might not seem that jewelry and blacksmithing go together, they have been a hit at our local markets. I am also proud to say that we have added hand made candles to our product line and so began our journey into entrepreneurship. It has been eight wonderful months of research and selling. Now I am ready to launch the full extent of our business.
