About Us

About the Kentville Farmers Market

Starting May 18, 2022, find us at Kentville’s Centre Square on WEDNESDAYS from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m as we move outdoors for the summer.

The Market is proud to be a member of Farmers Markets of Nova Scotia. This has allowed us to participate in local food security programs and other opportunities to serve you even better.

About the Market

The Kentville Farmers Market began in 2007 as a joint project of the Town of Kentville and the Wolfville Farmers Market. After four steady and successful years of growth, the market became its own entitity in 2011.

The Kentville Farmers Market is now managed by the Kentville Farmers Market and Community Garden Society and is held in Centre Square each summer season from Mid May to Mid October. This is a cooperative effort between the Town of Kentville and the Market Board.

Once the market pulls anchor from Centre Square in autumn, we set up in an available locale that can accommodate the market’s needs and those of customers. The location is announced each autumn ahead of the end of the summer season.

We look forward to the day when we have a permanent home, but no matter where you find us, we guarantee you a safe and accessible environment and friendly vendors with a welcoming smile.

Our Vendors

Our vendors are local farmers and artisans. Each farmer is dedicated to bringing you freshly harvested produce (most of which is grown free of spray), eggs gathered from pastured chickens, and meats from pastured animals who are killed in as stress free an environment as possible. These people have a strong ethical compass and are compassionate care givers where their animals are concerned.

Our artisans are local community members who carefully craft soaps, jewelry, knitted toys, woven rugs and crocheted bags, pottery and sewn items for children and adults alike. Our artisan bakers include Marie and Guy’s French bakery, producing breads from ancient grains and sourdoughs as well as croissants in all their variety, and other treats to numerous to mention! Easy Peasy bakes Tunisian sweets – a taste of the exotic baked right here at home.

Five Paws crafts dog treats in a range of flavors. Ingredients are carefully sourced from local farmers.

Local craft brewers, cider makers and alcohol producers are at the Market all summer long, and when they can make it in winter.

Our Sponsors

Become a Market Sponsor

The Kentville Farmers Market fosters vitality in our local community and promotes a sustainable economy through partnerships connecting local farms and small businesses directly to consumers. Our sponsorship program ensures the sustainability of the Kentville Farmers Market as a cornerstone of our community in the Annapolis Valley for years to come.

Year-round, vendors bring locals and tourists alike to our downtown to buy fresh farm products, household goods and local crafts. Our yearly customer surveys repeatedly show that those who visit the market do some, most, or all of their additional shopping in Kentville on Wednesdays because they come for the market.

The success of farmers markets and the local food movement is rooted in our ability to offer up what customers seek most, a real connection to small businesses and producers who are friends and neighbours. These are relationships based on trust, quality products, and service. We stand for that, and we think you do to!

Our customer surveys have also shown that the top three reasons people visit the Kentville Farmers Market are:

  • to purchase fresh, local food products,
  • to support the farmers market movement,
  • to support the growth of community activities in Kentville.

By demonstrating your support for these priorities you’ll align your business with these ideals, and create tremendous goodwill for your company or organization.

We’d like to ask you to join us in the successful, community-building movement we are creating on Wednesdays at the Kentville Farmers Market by becoming an official market sponsor.

Being able to demonstrate your support for these priorities, as well as the vendors and customers who care about locally-grown and locally-produced products can help align you with these customers and create tremendous goodwill for your company or organization.

We’d like to ask you to join us in the successful community-building phenomenon we are creating on Wednesdays at the Kentville Farmers Market by becoming an Official Market Sponsor!
